In 2018, Johnson-Melloh Solutions assisted the city of North Vernon, Indiana with a city-wide solar energy and lighting project. This project makes North Vernon one a select group of cities that harnesses the energy of the sun to make a positive impact on the environment, and to control energy costs while improving the quality of life for its community members.

“It’s not every day that a project of this magnitude or relevance happens during our generation. However, it is in fact happening right here in the City of North Vernon,” stated Mayor Mike Ochs.

With a total of more than 7,000 solar panels strategically placed in 17 different city-owned sites, and more than 550 LED lights installed, the $5 million “Solar City” project was made possible without raising taxes and it is projected to pay for itself in 15 years. North Vernon’s “Solar City” efforts will help this community take control of projected $14 million of energy costs over the next 20 years.

Johnson-Melloh Solutions is proud to have had this opportunity to assist North Vernon and we look forward to the positive impact it will continue to make on this Indiana community.
