What started at Jennings County Library is beginning to take shape for the city of North Vernon.

The partnership that has been formed with solar energy continues to strengthen between the city of North Vernon (Jennings County), and Johnson-Melloh Solutions.

In fact, so much so that the city of North Vernon has just approved the plan that means Johnson-Melloh will soon be installing and activating a system that will make North Vernon the very first city government in Indiana to be completely powered by solar energy.

“I think everyone in the room thought it was the craziest idea they had ever heard the first time this project was presented to the city council but, in well less than a year, this thing is ready to go. I don’t think I have ever seen anything move in such a short time from an extremely negative initial reaction to being a fully approved project,” said North Vernon Clerk Treasurer Shawn Gerkin.
